Akdeniz’i korumak bizim en önemli görevlerimizden

Bodrum Belediyesi ile Alman Uluslararası İşbirliği Kurumu (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), Bodrum’da geri dönüşüm, atık yönetimi, deniz temizliği, daha yeşil ve sürdürülebilir bir turizm kentine yönelik ortak projeler üretecek.

Avrupa genelinde özellikle turizm kentlerine yönelik gerçekleştirdikleri hibe ve destek projeleri ile atık yönetimi, geri dönüşüm, plastik ve metal atıklar ağırlıklı olmak üzere derinlemesine deniz temizliği, plastik kullanımının azaltılması, ev ve işyerlerinde atık ayrıştırmanın önemine yönelik eğitimler gibi konularda çalışmalar gerçekleştiren Alman Uluslararası İşbirliği Kurumu yöneticileri ile Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras bir toplantı gerçekleştirildi.

Bodrum’un gelecek planları hakkında hayata geçirilebilecek projelerin konuşulduğu toplantıya Başkan Aras, Temizlik işleri Müdürlüğü’nden sorumlu başkan yardımcısı Tayfun Yılmaz, Temizlik İşleri Müdür Vekili Engin Doğan, müdürlükte görevli çevre mühendisleri, Alman Uluslararası İşbirliği Kurumu Uluslararası Proje Yöneticisi Fionn Harnischfeger, Plastik Atık Bitirme Birliği Proje Yöneticisi Elizabeth Von Der Ohe ve Alman Uluslararası İşbirliği Kurumu Uluslararası Proje Koordinatörü İpek Benek katıldı.

Yerinde Ayrıştırma ve Eğitim Önemli…

Toplantının başında konuşan Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras, Dünyanın ortak mirası olan Akdeniz’i ve 3 bin 500 yıldır birçok medeniyete sahip çıkmış Bodrum’u geleceğe taşımak için birçok çevre projesini hayata geçirdiklerini, Alman Uluslararası İşbirliği Kurumu ile de ortak çalışmaktan mutluluk duyacağını belirttiği konuşmasında şunları söyledi;  “Denizlerle ilgili yaptığımız çalışmalarda var deniz dibi temizliğiyle ilgili bizden önceki dönemde başlatılmış devam eden “Denize En Çok Mavi Yakışır” sloganıyla yaptığımız bir deniz dibi temizliği çalışması var ve bununla plastik, metal gibi her türlü atığı denizlerimizden temizliyoruz. Yine buna istinaden dere ağızlarına yaptığımız ağ gergi sistemiyle, dereden gelen plastik ve diğer atıkların denize ulaşmasını engellemeye çalışıyoruz. Yine dere yataklarında zaman zaman yaptığımız temizlik çalışmalarıyla buraya atılan atıkların denize ulaşmasını engellemeye çalışıyoruz. Ama bence buradaki en önemli ayak vatandaşlarımızın farkındalığını arttırmak, yani burada insanlara vereceğimiz eğitim, yerinde ayrıştırmanın önemi ve bunları uygun bir toplama sistemiyle geri dönüşüm tesisine ulaştırma konularının işlenmesi gerekiyor.”

Plastiği Hayatımızdan Çıkarmalıyız…

Temizlik İşleri Müdürlüğü tarafından yıl boyu farkındalık çalışmalarına devam edildiğini belirten Başkan Aras, modern bir ayrıştırma tesisinin ihtiyacıyla beraber özellikle eğitim konularının çok önemli olduğuna dikkat çekerek, “Bütün bu eğitim çalışmalarıyla beraber, yani plastiğin hayatımızdan çıkarılmasıyla ilgili çalışmaları birlikte yapmaya her zaman hazırız.”

Akdeniz Hepimizin…

Akdeniz’in büyük bir kültüre sahip olduğunu belirten Başkan Aras sözlerini şöyle tamamladı; “Akdeniz hepimizin, Akdeniz büyük bir kültür, binlerce yıllık büyük bir kültürün üzerinde, kıyısında yaşıyoruz hep birlikte ve Akdeniz’i korumak bizim en önemli görevlerimizden ve gelecek nesillere aktarmak zorundayız Akdeniz’i. Akdeniz’in korunması için böyle bir birlikteliğe de ihtiyaç var. Kuzey Afrika, Batı Orta Doğu, Batı Anadolu ve Güney Avrupa, Güney Doğu Avrupa olmak üzere kesinlikle hep birlikte Akdeniz’i korumak durumundayız. Aramızdaki tüm ayrışmaları bir kenara koyup, siyaseti ya da başka türlü bütün anlaşmazlıkları ortadan kaldırıp tamamen Akdeniz’i korumak için iş birliği yapmamız gerektiğini zaten görebiliyoruz. Ben bu projenin sahiplerine ve koordinatörlerine yani sizlere çok teşekkür ediyorum.”

Plastik Atık İle Mücadele…

Alman Uluslararası İşbirliği Kurumu Uluslararası Proje Yöneticisi Fionn Harnischfeger ise şunları söyledi; “Bu güzel şehirde harika bir gün geçirdik. İşinde özenli çalışan, alanında uzman bir çok çalışma arkadaşınızla tanıştık ve kendilerinden şimdiden çok önemli bilgiler edindik. Sizlere GIZ kurumunu tanıtmak, sizleri tanımak ve tabi ki sizlere birlikte yürüteceğimiz projeyi tanıtmaktan oldukça mutluyuz. GIZ, Almanya merkezli bir kuruluş olup Alman Hükümeti ve onun adına hem Avrupa Birliği Komisyonu ve Dünya Bankası ile hem de özel sektör ile çalışmalar yürütmekteyiz. Çevreyi kirleten plastik atık ile mücadele, birlikte çalışmalar yürüttüğümüz Plastik Atık Bitirme Birliği ile ortak amacımızdır.”

Çereyi Korumak İçin Bir Çatı Altında Toplandık…

Plastik Atık Bitirme Birliği Proje Yöneticisi Elizabeth Von Der Ohe ise şunları söyledi; “Plastik Atık Birliği Singapur’da kurulmuş olup şu an faaliyetlerine 60’ı aşkın üye kurumla devam etmektedir. Bir plastik atık yönetimi zinciri oluşturduk. Bu zincirin halkalarına büyük petrol ve kimyasal firmaları, markaların perakende satıcıları, atık yönetimi firmaları da dahil. Hepimiz kirlilik yaratan bu plastik atıklardan çevreyi korumak adına bir çatı altında toplandık. Tüm dünyada maddi destek sağladığımız projeler bulunmakta, bu projeler arasında yeni altyapı oluşturmak veya varolan altyapıları geliştirmek de yer almakta. Yeni teknolojiler geliştirmek, yeni iş modelleri oluşturmak, halkın genelini konu ile ilgili eğitimini sağlamak, temizleme aktiviteleri yaptıklarımıza örnek olarak gösterilebilir. Genellikle şehirlerle iş birliği yapıp, bu şehirler için ve bu şehirlerle birlikte istikrarı koruyan atık yönetimi projeleri oluşturmaktayız.”

Toplantının ardından Başkan Aras, Bodrum tarihi ve kültürü hakkında bilgiler verdi.

Protecting The Mediterranean Is Our Most Important Duty

Bodrum Municipality and the German International Cooperation Agency (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) will produce joint projects in Bodrum for recycling, waste management, sea cleaning, and a greener and more sustainable tourism city.

Executives of the German International Cooperation Agency, who carry out studies on waste management, recycling, deep-sea cleaning, mainly on plastic and metal wastes, reducing the use of plastic, training on the importance of waste separation in homes and workplaces, with the grant and support projects they have realized throughout Europe, especially for tourism cities and held a meeting with Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras.

The meeting, where projects that can be incorporated for Bodrum’s future plans were discussed, Mayor Aras, Vice President of Cleaning Affairs Directorate Tayfun Yılmaz, Deputy Director of Cleaning Affairs Engin Doğan, environmental engineers working in the directorate, German International Cooperation Agency International Project Manager Fionn Harnischfeger, Project Manager of the Plastic Waste Disposal Association Elizabeth Von Der Ohe and German International Cooperation Organization International Project Coordinator İpek Benek attended.

Appropriate Sortation And Education Are Important…

At the start of the meeting Mayor of Bodrum Ahmet Aras stated they have implemented many environmental projects to carry the Mediterranean, which is the common heritage of the world, and Bodrum, which has protected many civilizations for 3,500 years, to the future, and that he would be happy to work in partnership with the German International Cooperation Agency. In his speech he said:  ” There are studies we have done about the seas, there is a seabed cleaning work that we have started in the previous period with the slogan “Blue Suits the Sea Most” and we clean all kinds of wastes such as plastic and metal from our seas. Apart from this, we try to prevent the plastic and other wastes coming from the stream from reaching the sea with the tensioning system. Again, we try to prevent the wastes thrown here from reaching the sea with the cleaning works we do from time to time in the stream beds. But the most important pillar is raising awareness, the education we give to people here, and the issues of transporting them to the recycling facility with an appropriate sortation system is what needs to be addressed.”

We Should Remove Plastic From Our Lives…

Stating that awareness activities continue throughout the year by the Cleaning Affairs Directorate, Mayor Aras pointed out that training issues are very important along with the need for a modern sorting facility and said, “We are always ready to work together with all these training activities, namely the removal of plastic from our lives.”

Our Mediterranean…

Stating that the Mediterranean has a great culture, Mayor Aras concluded his words as follows; “Our Mediterranean. The Mediterranean is a great culture for all of us, we live on the shores of a great culture over thousands of years together, and protecting the Mediterranean is one of our most important duties and we have to pass it on to future generations. Such a union is also needed for the protection of the Mediterranean. We definitely have to protect the Mediterranean together, like North Africa, West Middle East, West Anatolia, and Southern Europe, Southeast Europe. We can already see that we need to put aside all our differences and put aside all disagreements, politics or otherwise, and cooperate to fully protect the Mediterranean. I would like to thank the owners and coordinators of this project, Meaning you.”

Combating Plastic Waste…

Fionn Harnischfeger, International Project Manager of the German International Cooperation Agency, said; ” We had a wonderful day in this beautiful city. We met many of your colleagues who are experts in their fields and are diligent in their work, and we have already obtained very important information from them. We are very happy to introduce you to the GIZ institution, to get to know you, and of course to introduce you to the project we will carry out together. GIZ is based in Germany. “We are an organization working with the German Government and on its behalf, both with the European Union Commission and the World Bank and with the private sector. Combating plastic waste polluting the environment is our common goal with the Plastic Waste Disposal Association, with which we work together.”

We Gathered Under One Roof To Protect The Envıronment…

Elizabeth Von Der Ohe, Project Manager of the Plastic Waste Disposal Association, said; “The Plastic Waste Association was established in Singapore and currently operates with more than 60 member institutions. We have created a plastic waste management chain. The rings of this chain include large oil and chemical companies, retailers of brands, waste management companies. We are all polluters. We have gathered under one roof to protect the environment from these plastic wastes. There are projects that we provide financial support all over the world, including creating new infrastructure or improving existing infrastructures. Developing new technologies, creating new business models, providing education to the general public on the subject, “Cleaning activities are examples of what we do. We often collaborate with cities to create stable waste management projects for and with these cities.”

After the meeting, Mayor Aras gave information about Bodrum’s history and culture.
